Empowering Rural Communities of Vanuatu through Renewable Energy Solutions (Solar PV for Water, Education, and Health Centers)

About this project

This idea is to implement learnings from from the Phase II - Scaling-up Climate Resilience through Solar-Powered Direct Water Access project. It involves scaling up from the 'Scaling-up Climate Resilience through Solar-Powered Direct Water Access' in Vanuatu. The Empowering Rural Communities of Vanuatu through Renewable Energy Solutions project aims to address critical energy and water access challenges in rural Vanuatu through the deployment of solar-powered solutions. The initiative will install solar water pumping systems in eight rural communities on the islands of Santo, Malekula, Paama, and Tanna, while also equipping twenty-four (24) health and education facilities with standalone solar photovoltaic (PV) systems integrated with battery energy storage systems. The initiative incorporates a community and government-led governance model, ensuring long-term sustainability through training, local participation, and access to concessional finance and technical support.List of Site Names:LiroNaluken 1 & 2Port ResolutionSaralokambuBetervatLeerongrongTahiVaoleli
