JUST TRANSITIONS: skills training and jobs creation in sustainable construction and eco-tourism in flood affected districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

About this project

The project focuses on skills and entrepreneurial trainings in sustainable construction techniques (with green inputs like brick production) and eco-tourism services and promotes a national certification framework to foster job creation, economic and entrepreneurial empowerment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. Skills assessment, certification and further training on green construction will be mainstreamed through Technical and Vocational Education and Training providers at National level. Working with small and medium-sized enterprises, women and youth led, in the eco-tourism sector on enhancing working conditions (including safety and health at the workplace) will sustain more competitive and responsible enterprises. Partnerships with relevant Italian organizations such as ISCOS for international expertise and the Pakistani Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority for institutionalisation of certified trainings and enterprise development underpin project design and implementation, as well as sustainability of results. Men, women and youth will be able to participate in the reconstruction of sustainable infrastructure and revival of eco-tourism in a Province heavily impacted by 2022 floods.
