NAÃNE: New Strategies for Environmental Adaptation for Communities and Ecosystems

About this project

The “NAÃNE” initiative (“Ancestral Territory” in Tikuna-Maguta) aims to promote climate resilience and biodiversity conservation through sustainable and inclusive territorial management in indigenous communities along the Amazon River, in the Department of Amazonas, Colombia. This action aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 13.1 (climate change adaptation) and 15.9 (integration of biodiversity into development processes). The Colombian Amazon region faces severe challenges due to climate change and biodiversity loss. Indigenous communities, highly dependent on natural resources, are particularly vulnerable to these phenomena, exacerbated by a lack of resilient infrastructure and risk management systems. The project directly involves the indigenous communities of the ACITAM and ATICOYA Resguardo Indigena, as well as the municipalities of Leticia and Puerto Nariño, with the aim of improving their capacity for adaptation and natural resource management. The overall objective is to strengthen climate resilience and conserve biodiversity through sustainable territorial management. Indicators include the number of territorial plans incorporating national climate change management strategies and the percentage of territory incorporating community strategies that consider biodiversity.
