SMART WASH – Innovation in the management of water infrastructures and food security in Ethiopia

About this project

Aim of the initiative: The project promotes the food security and health of the population in the intervention areas by improving access to safe sources of drinking water, promoting improved hygiene, disseminating sustainable agricultural practices that combine long-term productivity gains with increased resilience of the sector, and supporting the country's digital transition efforts by implementing the use of water management and monitoring software. The partners for the implementation of the project were chosen on the basis of their accumulated experience in the areas of intervention. By exchanging the know-how of each partner, it will be possible to maximise the effectiveness and efficiency of the project in all areas of intervention. Place of intervention: The country of implementation of the initiative is Ethiopia. Two areas of intervention are included: the first includes the Woredas of Geze Gofa, Demba Gofa, Zala and Oyida in the Gofa Zone, within the Southern Ethiopia Region, while the second includes the Woredas of Cheha and Ezha in the Guraghe Zone of the Central Ethiopia Region. Planned activities: To address the identified needs, interventions are planned in three main areas.
