About this project

Destructive, unregulated mining activities and climate change are driving environmental degradation and disrupting the hydrological cycle in Zvishavane and Shurugwi. This is severely impacting agriculture, livelihoods, and health and nutrition in the local communities. This project will promote community-led watershed protection including better wetland management while capacitating communities in sustainable agriculture and natural resource management. This includes training in climate issues, wetland protection, and creating community gardens and tree nurseries. Natural resource governance will be enhanced by empowering/capacitating local stakeholders including communities, CSOs, and rural district councils to co-create and implement Local Environmental Action Plans (LEAPs).
