Benin Poultry Industry Transformation project

About this project

The project (BeniPoule) will apply a market systems development approach to contribute to a competitive, inclusive, and resilient poultry market system in Benin. Through partnerships with market systems actors, the project will catalyze the adoption of inclusive, regenerative, and commercially viable business models and work on systemic changes that address root causes of underperformance in the sector. The project will work on 5 interventions areas: 1. Professionalized poultry meat and egg production 2. Access to high-quality inputs and equipment 3. Commercialized aggregation and offtake 4. Access to financial and business services 5. Sector compliance and traceability The project will position the private sector as main change agent to drive structual behavioural change and scale innovation and sustainable solutions that will benefit smallholder farmers, MSME's and entrepreneurs (especially women and youth). The project will give opportunities to attract international and Dutch actors with expertise in the poultry sector.
