About this project
The fashion and textiles sector is among the most water-intensive industries globally, consuming an estimated 93 billion cubic meters annually and contributing around 20% of global wastewater. Bangladesh, as the world’s second-largest exporter of garments, faces a dual challenge: rising global scrutiny on supply chain sustainability and severe local water stress, with groundwater levels falling by up to three meters per year in some areas. Through a study the Resilient Water Accelerator seeks to advance sustainable water management in Bangladesh’s textile sector by assessing, validating, and scaling water-efficient technologies within priority clusters in Gazipur and Narayanganj.
