About this project
Water Resources Planning Organization (WARPO) is the regulatory authority of GW in BD. 4.5%~17% area of BD is in high risk of GW depletion and unfortunately most of the industries are located in that area. The 2030 Water Resources Group of World Bank in collaboration with EKN lunched Bangladesh Alliance for Water Reuse and Recycle (A4R) to promote water stewardship through public-private partnerships. WARPO is the secretariat of A4R. NL technology and knowledge can help them achieving the goal of water reuse and recycle. The bottle neck here is the capacity of WARPO in regulating the GW use. The proposed project equips WARPO towards smart groundwater governance by upgrading the current groundwater monitoring and assessment tools and dashboard. The project will also introduce collaboration between government, private sector, civil society and academics, as in the Dutch Diamond Approach.
