About this project
Building on the data and learnings from the Sex-disaggregated Study on Water Access and Use in the National Capital Region (MWSS/UP-CWGS), and the Source to Sink: Exploring Gender Dynamics in Water Access and Use in Mindanao (PAWD/BukSU) - this study aims to collect sex-disaggregated data on water, wastewater and hygiene services and examine the intersection of gender and WASH in the Visayas. This initiative aims to establish a baseline statistics for water utilities in the region and seeks to further delve into the roles and contributions of women in water management with a long term goal of contributing to the development of national and regional water policy frameworks, plans, and strategies. Since the framework of this study is compatible with the first two, related studies, the Philippine water sector is now closer to its goal of completing a nationwide sex-disaggregated data on water access, that will help guide regional and national policy makers in crafting gender-inclusive policies relating to water access. Establishing comprehensive, standardized databases will enable comparisons, inform national policies, and promote equitable investment in water infrastructure.
