About this project

The Yatta Distribution Network Rehabilitation and Extension Project is designed to complete outstanding works originally financed by USAID to provide over 100,000 residents in Yatta City and the nearby Beit Amra village with reliable, safe and affordable water supply. The project addresses a critical need, as Yatta is registered to have one of the lowest water supply rates in the Palestinian Territory. Concrete and infrastructure works completed within the scope of the previous project are not in use pending finishing and reinstatement, equipment has also been procured lying in warehouses pending installation. Overall, the project will result in a water system which includes the construction of transmission and distribution water pipelines, three new reservoirs and a Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system. Capacity development and awareness raising to ensure the sustainability of the system are also integral components of the project.
