About this project
Two separate contracts with Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in the Hadramaut: 1. Wadi Al-Ain: The overall goal is to extend the FAO targets of the German KfW funded project (GCP/YEM/046/GER), which includes improving livelihood resilience and long-term peace in Yemen through sustainable water management in the upstream Hura Directorate (Wadi Al-Ain) which is upstream of the Al-Qatn and Shibam wadi’s. 2. Wadi Hajr (GCP/YEM/050/NET): The objective is to achieve sustainable and resilient watershed management that considers the top, middle and downstream communities of Wadi Hajr as well as the environmental needs and requirements. This will be accomplished by assisting rural communities affected by floods in their recovery and strengthening their resilience to climate shocks , as well as by strengthening watershed governance and promoting ecological and restorative agriculture (a.o. wheat) throughout the watershed.
