About this project

GreenSchool for Circular Economy - PADEO (Prepare, Appraise, Define, Execute, and Operate). The "Green School" project, the first of its kind in Tunisia, is implemented through a circular business model build on transforming public green-schools into social enterprises by guaranteeing energy independence, producing and selling surplus, food self-sufficiency. The green-school cultivates a 65-hectare farm providing jobs for school children’s parents, producing, processing and selling sustainable agricultural products in order to generate profits that are circularly reinvested to enhance the entire value chain. The project's approach is intended to be comprehensive, simultaneously targeting unemployment, socioeconomic inequality, health, education, food security and sustainable development. The circular model has been tested and developed further during the last 10 years. It has made it possible to generate market added value, create jobs, cooperative cultivation and managing a sustainable farm.
