Shelter Support for Earthquake-Affected Communities in Chapa Dara District, Kunar Province, Afghanistan (2025–2026)

About this project

ltpgtThe proposed project aims to provide cash-for-shelter assistance to earthquake-affected and vulnerable households in Bastalla, Watala, Sayed Khail, Warsak, Sanzaye, Nakora and Kanday areas of Chapa Dara District, Kunar Province. The intervention will reach 286 households, equivalent to 2,002 individuals, including 452 women, 529 girls, 469 men and 552 boys. Of the total caseload, 50 households will be women-headed households, and approximately 16 percent of individuals reached will be persons with disabilities, in line with recognized humanitarian standards for disability inclusion.ltbrgtAll targeted households have been significantly affected by the recent earthquake and will receive shelter support through a tiered cash-for-shelter approach based on the level of damage and household needs. The project will provide transitional shelter assistance to 152 households, major shelter repair support to 129 households and minor repair assistance to 5 households. The cash values will be USD 3,767.10 for transitional shelter, USD 550 for major repairs and USD 330 for minor repairs.ltbrgtThe project will follow national Cash Working Group procedures and ES/NFI Cluster guidance to ensure transparent, safe and accountable delivery.
