About this project

ltpgtThe impact of the war has pushed development in Gaza back by an estimated 69 years, while the health system is collapsing, with only 200 out of 600 health facilities still functional. Preventive and routine services, including sexual and reproductive health (SRH) care, have been severely disrupted. At the same time, prolonged exposure to violence, loss, displacement, and uncertainty has led to a sharp rise in mental health needs and psychosocial distress. According to WHO, more than one million people in Gaza now require Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS). This distress directly affects maternal wellbeing, coping capacity, and access to SRH services, highlighting the need for an integrated response.ltbrgtIn response to these urgent and interconnected needs, the proposed six-month project aims to ensure delivery of accessible, quality MHPSS and SRH services to crisis-affected communities in Gaza, increasing the availability of services, meeting essential needs, and alleviating the burden on overstretched health staff. The project prioritizes the hardest-hit groups, including women and girls, pregnant women, children and adolescents, persons with disabilities, caregivers under severe stress, and other individuals at heightened risk.ltbrgtMdM-CH will deliver community-based MHPSS services through mobile teams, providing individual, group, and family counselling in safe, accessible spaces within shelters. Services will follow MdM-CH standard operating procedures…
