About this project

ltpgtThe proposed project aims to improve the living situation of vulnerable populations in Qatana, including returnees, IDPs and the host community, by providing lifesaving agricultural and livelihood support and increasing equitable access to safe water and sanitation services. The community of Qatana is experiencing severe water scarcity, impacting the sustainability of their farmlands and ability to meet their basic needs. Through a multi-sectoral approach that focuses on rehabilitation of WASH infrastructural facilities, agricultural inputs distribution and capacity strengthening, ZOA aims to provide sustained access to essential services to IDPs, returnees and host communities, while promoting sustainable livelihoods and improving community resilience.lt/pgtltpgt ltbrgtDuring the conflict’s peak, a quarter of the population in Qatana fled the subdistrict. UNHCR data mentions 1,184 returnee HHs, (4,908 individuals) between 8 of December 2024 and 26 June 2025. ZOA's needs assessment in Qatana revealed well-established social cohesion and interaction among the different groups, as well as their shared need for WASH and livelihood assistance.lt/pgtltpgtltbrgtSince the onset of the crisis in Syria, the c…
