About this project
ltpgtAs outlined in the area assessment of Karnaz, Ziyara, and Oqeirbat attached to the project files, following the fall of the previous regime, over 25,000 returnees—coming from northern Syria as well as neighboring countries including Turkey, Lebanon, and Jordan—have arrived in Hama and surrounding rural areas, creating immense strain on already overstretched basic services and fragile protection systems. These returnees face multiple challenges including inadequate housing, limited access to health care and education, disrupted livelihoods, and fragmented social networks, which increase their vulnerability to exploitation, gender-based violence (GBV), and psychosocial distress. Children and adolescents are particularly affected, encountering difficulties reintegrating into schools and communities, while persons with disabilities face additional barriers to inclusion and essential services.ltbrgtThe project responds through a comprehensive, multi-sectoral approach targeting children, women, and vulnerable populations. Integrated support includes psychosocial services, individualized case management, and strengthened referral pathways between Child Protection (CP) and GBV services, ensuring timely identification and response to protection risks. Prevention and awareness-raising are reinforced through community mobilization, targeted campaigns, and coordination with Mine Action actors to integrate Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) into community activities.ltbrgtWome…
